We warmly welcome all of you to the Conference 2019 held on Nyoongar land: Ngalang booyembara, Ngalang boodjar, Dandjoo warniny: Our Coast|Our Land- Striving Together. This Conference recognises the First Nations People of WA, the first landcarers, and their Elders past, present and emerging.
Caring for coast and country is caring for community – this conference brings together practitioners, community members and volunteers, planners, managers, researchers, businesses to share our concerns, our experiences and knowledge, and our passion and visions for the future.
The conference aims to provide inspiration from speakers who have made a difference and offer new ways of thinking and taking action. It aims to maximize networking opportunity through a range of formats from short sharp presentations to longer panels and workshops, creative performances, posters/exhibitions and audiovisual presentations. Open space times will be offered to bring people together to explore questions they bring with them or that arise during the conference. Both coastal and NRM/Landcare themes will be discussed, with some concurrent sessions to investigate over-lapping issues.
We live at a time of big chances that demand our best, innovative thinking to improve coastal, land, biodiversity and water resilience, actively engage and build communities, motivate appropriate policy and planning responses, and conserve natural resources.
The Organising Committee invites you to create a thought provoking, informative and motivating conference.
We look forward to meeting you at the beautiful Joondalup ECU Campus, 1 – 4 October 2019.
