The organising committee is proud to host the 2019 WA State NRM and Coastal Conference in the location of Joondalup, Western Australia.
The committee is working hard to put together an informative, inspirational and entertaining conference for you this October. We are working towards a culturally rich, family, community and environmentally friendly event that inspires delegates to get back out there and make the transformational changes needed at this critical time.
Program
Our program will include various presentation formats from 20 minute powerpoint presentations, to panels, debates, workshops, ‘open space’ discussions and poster displays. For the first time we will be seeking expressions of interest for arts performances such as dance, music, song and story that blend with our themes. Keynote speakers will be confirmed soon, so watch this space for some exciting news!
The conference events will feature the 2019 Coastal Awards for Excellence, and the Gala Dinner and 2019 WA Landcare Awards. Local field trips hosted by stakeholders and community coast and landcare groups will be held on day one, October 1st.

Carbon Neutral
This will be a carbon neutral Conference through our sponsor, Carbon Neutral, who will measure and offset the carbon footprint associated with the event.
To this end we are aiming for a minimal waste, single use plastic-free event, which is supported and welcomed by ECU and their Student Guild. Transport to, from and during the conference will have options to offset your emissions plus we encourage the use of public transport which arrives practically to the door of the conference via the local rail and bus systems. Where possible our catering will include locally sourced products. We will not be printing programs, this will be provided digitally and via our Conference APP.
Community Member Subsidies
If you belong to a community based land or coast care group subsidies are being sought to assist with travel, accommodation and registration for the conference. Information about a range of affordable accommodation options will be provided.
Family Friendly
The event is being held during school holidays and one in order to make the event more family friendly, we will include services such as creche and daycare along with kids activities.
Youth Culture
Our children are the future leaders and decision makers and they have some strong things to say on how things need to be done. We have set up a Youth Committee which includes ECU’s Student Guild and the City of Joondalup’s Youth development team to tap into the energy and enthusiasm of the younger generation and provide them with a stage for their voices.
Location and Venue
Our first two supporters right from day one were Edith Cowan University (Joondalup Campus) and the City of Joondalup. As sponsors of the Conference they continue to provide valuable local input and support planning the conference. With a diverse array of natural coastal and land based areas and one of the fastest growing populations in WA, Joondalup is definitely a hot spot for NRM, landcare and coastal management.
